India's men and women teams won their respective final against Nepal at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi on January 19 to secure title.

India has already expressed its official interest in hosting the Olympics in 2036 with a 'Letter of Intent' to the International Olympic Committee's Future Host Commission.

Should India secure the hosting rights, the ministry's Mission Olympic Cell intends to propose six sports for inclusion in the 2036 Olympics, with kho kho being amongst them, alongside Twenty20 cricket, kabaddi, chess and squash.

"The Government's endeavour is also to take kho kho to the Olympics in 2036. For this, the players and coaches need to keep performing well, the federation has to keep managing well and the Sports Ministry will carry on supporting and helping to raise the level of players' performances," Mandaviya added.
