Southern Bay wins Bangalore 1000 Guineas

BANGALORE: S Ganapathy-trained favourite Southern Bay, confidently piloted by jockey Sreekanth, won the Bangalore 1000 Guineas in emphatic fashion on Saturday.
After the two no-hopers, Nearness Of You and Dancerella, set a decent pace for most part of the mile-long journey, Show Time surged ahead at the top of the straight before Sreekanth set alight Southern Bay approaching the distance post and the public choice readily assumed command and put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong.
Celebrity was second while Show Time and Lovely Kiss finished third and fourth, respectively.
