Red Carpet Delhi face Chhattisgarh Warriors on February 24 in IVPL

The IVPL kicks off at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Friday, with the Red Carpet Delhi team scheduled to play their first match against Chhattisgarh Warriors on February 24 (Saturday). The Red Carpet Delhi team will be captained by Herschelle Gibbs. The side has begun preparations for the IVPL. Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara is also a part of the team and forms a key cog in the middle order.

The Red Carpet Delhi team is satisfied with the balance of the squad and is raring to go in the IVPL with veteran stars ready to shine on a big stage.

Red Carpet Delhi co-owner Manjul Arora feels the IVPL has ushered the new era of veteran cricket in India and the league might be a game changer as fans will get to witness another aspect of cricket.

"The iconic players we have picked for this tournament are Herschelle Gibbs and Richard Levy. We also have Thisara Pereira who is from Sri Lanka. And then we have Ashley Nurse who is from the West Indies. So, these are the four iconic players we have picked. The rest are all very good players from all over India. And these are veteran cricketers. The league stands for veteran cricket in India," said Red Carpet Delhi co-owner Manjul Arora.

"I can surely say that this is the dawn for the new era of veteran cricket in India. This is going to be a game changer for veteran cricket. People are going to see another aspect of cricket with the opening of the league," he added.

The IVPL surely will give the deserved limelight to the veteran cricketers in India and will help in the promotion of veteran cricket in the country.

"This league stands for the veteran cricket, from which the spotlight had gone away. All the people who are playing right now in the leagues are mostly people who are playing cricket all over the world. And this league is actually for the veteran cricketers who haven't gotten the amount of attention and the amount of limelight that they deserve. So, we are kind of promoting veteran cricket in India," said Manjul Arora.
