CHANDIGARH: It will be Mumbai Raiders against Thane Raiders in the maiden Kho-Kho Premier League finals for the Pramod Gawand Memorial Trophy after the former edged Ahmednagar Heroes in a thriller that went into the third innings after both teams were locked at 14-14 at the end of the match. The eventual tie-breaker saw Mumbai go past their rivals 8-7 to settle the issue.
The latter however, made short work of Pune Fighters at 12-10 with a whopping 5 minutes to spare in the other semis of the tournament sponsored by
ONGC and Central Bank of India. For Mumbai it was the all-round display of Manoj Pawar that carried them through. He defended admirably in the decisive third innings for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. He had earlier exhibited his staying powers by defending for 1mt 50 secs and 2 mts in the two innings of the match.
His hand in 3 dismissals also proved crucial.He found able allies in Milind Chavarekar (1.40; 1.50; 1.10 ) and MOM Pawan Ghag who lasted for 2 mts and 10 sec un two innings and effected 3 dismissals.Aniket Charhate, Skipper Manoj Vaidya and Suresh sawant chased well for the winners. Ahmednagar too had their heroes in Skipper Amol Jadhav.
