Aniyan Midhun

is part of the 10-member Indian squad set to participate in the

South Asian

Wushu Championship in Nepal this month. The 28-year-old from

Thrissur

, in fact, is the only participant from

southern India

.

Midhun will be competing in the 70kg category in the championship scheduled for March 30 and 31.

"I am looking forward to this challenge and I want to do a good job for my country. It is a proud feeling that I get to represent India and I hope I can make this opportunity count," he said.

Midhun, whose real name is

Midhun

Mohan, has been known in the circuit as Aniyan Midhun. He took to

wushu

when he was just ten and has won many medals. He holds a black belt in karate and is proficient in kick-boxing too.

At present, Midhun is training under the guidance of Indian wushu coach and Arjuna Award winner Kuldeep Handu.
