Tanay recovered after losing the first game and fought back to register a 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 victory to advance to the quarter-finals.
India's second seed Navaneeth Prabhu S pulled off a close 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 win against compatriot Aaryaman Jaising to also book his place in the last eight round.
In a girls' under-17 second round encounters, top seed Amita Gondi from USA defeated Iteeva Pande of India 11-3, 11-3, 11-5, and in an all-Indian contest second seed Sanya Vats tamed Rewa Bharma 11-1, 11-0, 11-2.
