NEW DELHI: Union Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the Rs 316.82 crore 'Para High Performance Centre' in Gandhinagar on Sunday, reiterating India's determination to host the 2036 Olympic Games. He also announced plans for the construction of 10 major stadiums at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex, adjacent to the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
"India has resolved to hold the 2036 Olympic Games in these 10 complexes. Gujarat has already started preparations for this event," Shah said, highlighting the state's proactive role in India's Olympic ambitions.

SUBSCRIBE NOW!The Para High Performance Centre aims to provide world-class training infrastructure for para athletes, ensuring top-tier facilities for state, national, and international competitions. Shah emphasised the Centre’s commitment to empowering differently-abled athletes, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the term ‘divyang’ to instill confidence and dignity in them.
Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership, Gujarat has significantly expanded its sports infrastructure. Shah pointed out that the state's sports budget has surged from Rs 2 crore in 2002 to Rs 352 crore today, reflecting a strong commitment to fostering sports development.
Additionally, the event witnessed the signing of an MoU between Gujarat’s Department of Science and Technology and the Centre’s Common Service Centre, aimed at enhancing citizen-centric digital services in Gandhinagar.
