The fight will take place on "Fight Island" at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

McGregor (22-4 UFC record) has been installed as a -233 favorite by SportsBook.com to beat Poirier (26-6), who is being offered at +190.

UFC president

announced the date of the fight on Tuesday. McGregor scored a first-round TKO of Poirier in a featherweight bout at UFC 178 in 2014.

Poirier, 31, beat Dan Hooker by unanimous decision on June 27 in his lone fight since losing by submission to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 in September of 2019.
