Compound archers win 6 medals

Compound archers win 6 medals
KOLKATA: Indian compound archers did the country proud by claiming three gold medals in the 19th Asian Archery Championships that concluded in Bangkok on Saturday. They also won two silver and one bronze medals in the competition.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the in dividual women's title, while Rajat Chauhan took the honours in the men's section. Jyothi later combined with Sarvesh Pareek and Rajat Chauhan to win the team gold, too.

Indian women's compound team, comprising Jyothi, Jayalakshmi Sarikonda and Swati Dudhwal, however, faltered in the final and settled for silver after going down to South Korea (Song Yun Soo, Kim Yun Hee and Seol Dayeong) 232-234.
None of the Indian archers could make it to the final in the individual category of the recurve event. The women's recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram and Laxmi Rani Majhi had to be content with a silver medal after going down to South Korea in the final.
