Circle of life for Indian Oaks

MUMBAI: The Villoo Poonawalla Indian Oaks (Grade 1), feature of the Saturday's Mumbai Races, is third classic of the current season and will be run at 5.15 pm at the Mahalaxmi racecourse.
Popularly known as 'Ladies Derby' Indian Oaks has 14 fillies lined up. Among them, Pesi Shroff's Circle Of Life and Amazing Grace, Cooji Katrak's Starry Eyes, Dallas Todywalla's Mint Approach and S Padmanabhan's Bangalore challenger Isn't She Special are running with lots of hopes.
The race, however, appears primarily limited to three contenders, Circle Of Life, Starry Eeys and Isn't She Special. Despite winning just once in her six-race old career, Cirlce of Life is a formidable contender. She had finished a good second to Mariinsky in Indian 1000 Guineas and maintains that form. Starry Eyes and Isn't She Special had also did impressively in Indian 1000 Guineas.
All three of them are in good touch but presence of most successful rider in Indian classics in the last decade, Irishman Richard Hughes, in the saddle will certainly make a difference to Circle Of Life's chances. There are 10 races with first starting at 1.15 pm.
