Asiad champ Dingko held for assault on woman weightlifter

IMPHAL: Asian Games gold medal-winning boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh was arrested by Imphal police on Thursday evening for assaulting a woman weightlifter.
"Dingko surrendered at the Imphal police station and was arrested on charges of assaulting and outraging the modesty of a female athlete. He will be produced in court tomorrow," a police official said.
According to police, family members of the woman have filed an FIR with the police accusing Dingko of physically assaulting her at the Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal on Monday.The woman, who is a SAI player, is currently undergoing treatment.
