All India Sainik Schools' inter-zonal basketball begins at Kazhakootam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All India Sainik Schools' inter-zonal basketball tournament is underway at Sainik School Kazhakootam, Thiruvananthapuram. Winners of the five zonal tournaments are participating in this mega event.
Sixty participants from five Sainik Schools namely Sainik School Ambikapur from Chhattisgarh, Sainik School Punglwa from Nagaland, Sainik School Bijapur from Karnataka, Sainik School Ghorakhal from Uttarakhand and Sainik School Chittorgarh from Rajasthan are vying for the coveted championship trophy during the week-long tournament.
Group Capt B Janardhanan, principal, Sainik School Kazhakootam inaugurated the tournament in a colourful opening ceremony held at the school basketball court on Tuesday.
In the inaugural match that was played between Sainik School Nagaland and Sainik School Chhattisgarh, the former won the match by a convincing margin of 47- 27.
All the matches are played on league basis. The closing ceremony of the tournament will be held on Oct 10 at 3.30 pm, at the school basketball ground.
Brig. Sanal Kumar DDG (Kerala & Lakshadweep) NCC will grace the function as chief guest and give away the trophies and medals to the winners.
