Over 500 children from 23 schools across the country will be participating at the 27th All India IPSC Swimming Championship (Boys & Girls) from 29 September to 1 October 2012.

NEW DELHI: Over 500 children from 23 schools across the country will be participating at the 27th All India IPSC Swimming Championship (Boys & Girls) from 29 September to 1 October 2012 being held at the Delhi Public School, RK Puram.
India's ace trap shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu, an alumnus of the 1994 batch, declared the meet open on Saturday. The guests of honour were Anjum Chopra, former captain of the National Indian Women's Cricket Team (from the batch of 1994) and Neha Aggarwal, the ace Indian table tennis player, an alumnus of the 2007 batch of the school.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Vice Principal, Shobha Mehta, Pushpa Aggarwal, Vice Principal, DPS Shiksha Kendra; Mukesh Kumar, Supervisor; Vanita Sehgal and Anita Singh, Headmistresses of DPS R K Puram were present on the occasion along with Archana Pental and Dolly Chanana, Headmistresses of junior schools, Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash, respectively.
Addressing the students, Sandhu highlighted the importance of healthy competition and the need for students to push their limits and set new targets. Anjum Chopra stressed on the need to ‘eliminate the fear of failure' so that nothing can stop them from succeeding. Neha Aggarwal expressed her thanks to Dr. Saini who is in Canada, for all his support and emphasized the importance of balancing academics and sports.
The next three days will witness a plethora of swimming events in the under 14, under-17 and under-19 boys and girls category.
