NANJING: Indian shuttler Aditya Joshi missed out on a medal as he lost 17-21, 16-21 to Anthony Sinisuka of Indonesia in the bronze play-off in men's singles event in the second Youth Olympic Games on Friday.
Javelin thrower Pushpa Jakhar and 1500m runner Ajay Kumar Saroj raised India's hopes of a medal as they qualified for the 'A' finals in the athletics events.

Pushpa improved her personal best to 50.21m in today's qualification round to finish sixth among 18 participants.
Ajay Kumar won his 1500m heats with a personal best of 3:51.71 to qualify for finals.
Tomorrow, three Indians -- 110m hurdler Maymo Poulose, discus thrower Mithra Varun and 5,000m race walker K T Neena -- will be competing in the finals.
Maymon and Varun booked their places in the finals on Thursday while Neena's 5,000m race walk event will be a direct final.
India are being represented by 32 athletes and they have won one medal so far through weightlifter Ragala Venkat Rahul on Thursday.
