RANCHI: Sameer Mon won the 100m gold in the fifth leg of the Indian Grand Prix by clocking 10.50 seconds while Nidhi Singh took the honours in the women's meet with a timing of 11.97 seconds on Wednesday.
Sameer (SSCB) nearly toppled the national record of 10.30 seconds, set by A Prakash in 2005.
Jharkhand's Ritesh Anand was second with a timing of 10.60, followed by ONGC's Abdul Nazeeb Qureshi, who clocked 10.62.
In the women's 100m event, Nidhu's RSPB teammate Mandeep Kaur (12.22) came second while Kerala's Priya PK was third with 12.24 seconds effort.
Seema Antil of CRPF won the discus throw event by managing a throw of 55.43m, which was way below her own national record of 64.64m.
Orissa's Parbati Sethi was a distant second with a throw of 46.61m, followed by Parmilla (41.19) of Haryana.
