Rio Paralympics: Acting TN Governor lauds Mariyappan, Varun Bhati

Tamil Nadu acting Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao on Saturday congratulated Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Bhati for bagging a gold and bronze medal each at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu acting Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao on Saturday congratulated Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Bhati for bagging a gold and bronze medal each at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
"It is a matter of pride that you are the first Indian high jumper and the son of Tamil Nadu to win gold at the Rio Paralympic Games 2016," he said in a Raj Bhavan release.

"You have proved that nothing is impossible and disability is not a hindrance to achievement. I am sure your achievement will be a source of inspiration and motivation to the youth, young sportspersons and the differently-abled in particular," he said.
"I wish you all success in future endeavours," he added.
Rao also congratulated Varun Bhati for winning the bronze medal.
Led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, congratulatory messages poured in from all corners for Thangavelu and Bhati after they won gold and bronze medals, respectively, at the T-42 high-jump in Rio Paralympic Games.
