BHOPAL: Shot-putter

Inderjeet Singh

might have questioned publicly the validity of the National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) results which showed two different findings, but a

National Anti-Doping Agency

(Nada) official disclosed here on Monday that the sportsperson has not made a single appearance in front of the probe committee to claim his innocence. On the other hand, wrestler Narsingh Yadav was sent to the

Rio

Olympics as his inquiry got over post his request to Nada for a faster probe.

Nada's project officer Anshul Gupta, who was in Bhopal to attend an anti-doping seminar organised by the sports department, said Inderjeet's issue is still pending with the anti-doping body. "He should have appeared in front of the committee. He has never appeared in front of the committee. His advocate wanted time from NADA to put forward his case. I do not know when he will come in front of the committee to claim his innocence," said Gupta.

In Inderjeet's case, while one test said no banned substances were detected, the other had turned out to be positive. One sample was collected during an in-competition test at the

National Interstate Athletics Championships

in Hyderabad on June 29, while the other was an out-of-competition test for which samples were collected on June 22 in Bhiwani.

Inderjeet

was dropped from the Indian contingent to Rio after he tested positive in the Bhiwani test.

Inderjeet told TOI on Monday that he did not appear in front of committee as his advocate is preparing his case papers.
