CHANDIGARH: Despite her below-par performances in the recently held Inter-state Nationals in Lucknow and the subsequent Indian Grand Prix-6 in New Delhi, sprinter Dutee Chand found the backing of the Indian selectors, who on Monday picked the 25-member national team for the Doha World Championships, starting September 27.
However, Dutee will be able to participate in women's 100m subject to invitation from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) based on her world ranking.

Similarly, Archana Suseentran, who was named for women's 200m and high-jumper Tejaswin Shankar's participation will also be subject to the world body's approval.
The committee also decided to conduct confirmatory trial for quarter-miler Anjali Devi for selection in the team in individual women's 400m. The trial will be conducted on September 21 at NIS Patiala.
The AFI selection committee meeting, chaired by Olympian Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, was attended by AFI President Adille J Sumariwalla, chief coach Bahadur Singh, Bahadur Singh Saggu, Krishna Poonia, Praveen Jolly, Uday Prabhu and Paramjit Singh. Former chief coach JS Saini and deputy chief coach Radhakrishnan Nair were special invitees.
Metric miler Jinson Johnson, who is now training with coach Scott Simmons in Colarado Springs has also been named along with the impressive long jumper M Sreeshankar, who was among the first Indians to attain the IAAF qualifying standard with a leap of 8.20m in the National Open Championships in Bhubaneswar in September last year.
While 400m runner Arokia Rajiv is unavailable due to injury, the selectors decided to discuss the case of javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra who is undergoing rehabilitation programme after an elbow surgery at a later stage. Moreover, with Shivpal Singh's inclusion in the squad, it looks highly unlikely that Neeraj will be a part of the squad.
