Athletes Shubham, Rajshree race to glory in Ambedkar Doud

NAGPUR: Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal athletes Shubham Meshram in the men's and Rajshree Padamgirwar in the women's reigned supreme in the Babasaheb Ambedkar Doud, organized by Nagpur District Athletics Association, at Sanvidhan Square, here on Friday.
Shubham triumphed in the 11-km long race with a timing of 35 minutes and 45.05 seconds. Shubham's practice partner at the Nav Maharashtra KM Sheshraj Raut came a distant second with 37:20.12, while Nagpur City Athletics Club's Vicky Raut finished third with 38:12.15.
Rajshree stamped her authority in style in the women's 8-km race. A trainee of Nav Maharashtra KM, Rajshree clocked 28 minutes and 32.45 seconds to emerge on top. Rajshree got off to a flying start and maintained her lead till the finish-line to emerge winner.
Pranali Borekar of Track Star Athletics Club (29:20.15) placed second, while Komal Dhabale of Royal Runner Club (30:15.45) ended third.
Earlier, MLA Milind Mane and Nagpur District Athletics Association secretary Sharad Suryawanshi flagged off the races. Organizing committee chairman Yashwant Telang, Yogesh Thakre, Vibekanand Singh, Anil Bhore, Ravindra Tong, Banti Prasad Yadav, Ramchandra Vani, Krupal Chouhan, Vinod Tarare, Vandev Thakre, Pradeep Dongre, Amol Sardar, Balak Das Bagde, Pramod Borkar and Premdas Chahande were present during the prize distribution function. Archana Kottewar conducted the proceedings, while Gurudev Nagrale proposed a vote of thanks.

U-18 boys (8-km): 1. Nandu Bhujade (Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal), 27:35.15; 2. Rohit Jha (ProHealth Foundation) 28:30.18; 3. Abhay Gore (PreHealth Foudation) 29:12.25.
U-18 girls (4-km): 1. Gita Chacherkar (Vishwawyapi Jr College, Veltur, Kuhi) 17:35.05, 2. Divya Nakhate (Vishwawyapi Jr College, Veltur, Kuhi) 17:40.20; 3. Khushi Budhakondwar (Vidyarthi Yuvak Krida Mandal) 18:20.45.
Open men (11-km): 1. Shubham Meshram (Nav Maharashtra KM) 35:45.05; 2. Sheshraj Raut (Nav Maharashtra KM) 37:20.12; 3. Vicky Raut (Nagpur City Athletics Club) 38:12.15.
