BANGALORE: After watching the young guns set alight the day's proceedings at the Sree Kanteerava stadium, Paris World Championship bronze medalist
Anju Bobby George felt she was missing all the action.
"It is a good performance from Mayookha. Any jump above 6.60m is really good and Mayookha did that twice today," said Anju who was at the venue with her husband Bobby George, son Aaron and sister-in-law Sinimole Paulose.
The star athlete, who quietly came to the spectators' gallery, soon became the focus of all the attention as the photographers started zooming their lens to capture the moments of the mother and son.
It was the first public outing for Anju after the birth of Aaron, who celebrated his first birthday recently. The star athlete is planning to make a comeback early next season to try and qualify for the London Olympics.
Impressed by the quality action, Anju appeared to be preparing herself for the quality action. If her schedule goes according to plan, Anju will return to take on the young brigade early next season.
"After watching today's action, I feel I should have competed. The Bangalore track has got best results for all the jumpers and I want to have a go here," Anju said hoping that the Athletics Federation of India will schedule an event at the start of the next season.
Dronacharya award winner Bobby George also felt that competition in long jump has gone up several notches in the last few years.
"It was a good contest with Mayookha touching 6.63m and Prajusha leaping to 6.47m. Both came close to their best performances and that too at the start of the season," Bobby said.
