, have been selected to participate in World University Games that will be held at

Napoli

in Italy from July 3 to 14, Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, AEF, said here on Tuesday.



The students have been selected on the basis of their performance in the 79th

All India inter-university athletics meet

that Mangalore University hosted here last year.

Those selected are – Elakya Dasan (400x100 relay), Praveen C (triple-jump), Abinaya Shetty (high jump), Supriya S (high jump), Ajay Kumar (5000 mtr), Kushmesh Kumar (half Marathon), Abhishek D (javelin throw), Navami (4x100 relay), Chauhan Jyothi (3000 metre steeplechase) and Pushpanjali (100 metre hurdles). The coaching camp for these students selected for the WUG was held at Bhubaneswar in April, Dr Alva said.

Mangalore University will bear all expenditure of students that amounts to nearly Rs 2.30 lakh per student. Host Mangalore University had emerged champions at the above All India inter-university

meet for the third time in a row. In this meet, Mangalore University set 13 new meet records and all these were by students of AEF. Padmanabha Shenoy, PRO of AEF, Tilak Shetty, physical education director were present among others.
