UFC has announced its highly anticipated return to Abu Dhabi with an electrifying Fight Night event scheduled for July 26, 2025, which will take place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island that has hosted some of the most memorable fights in UFC history and on this summer, is expected to return featuring a mix of rising contenders and established fighters, yet another sign of UFC’s efforts and commitment at global expansion.

UFC’s history with Abu Dhabi


The first UFC fight in Abu Dhabi was hosted in 2010, marking UFC’s Abu Dhabi debut - UFC 112, which featured established fighters such as Anderson Silva fighting against Demian Maia, and Frankie Edgar fighting against BJ Penn as they fought for the title championship in their respective Middleweight and Lightweight categories in the promotion’s first outdoor event at Yas Island.

Following the success of its Abu Dhabi debut, the promotion signed a five-year agreement and partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), contributing to memorable fights like UFC 242 where Khabib Nurmagomedov fought against Dustin Poirier at the Lightweight Title Unification bout and won the fight, which was followed by the creation of Fight Island, hosting a series of major fights during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Abu Dhabi has remained as a key UFC destination, hosting memorable fights such as UFC 280 (Makhachev vs Oliveira) in 2022 and UFC 294 ( Makhachev vs Volkanovski) in 2023 including UFC 308 (Topuria vs Holloway) in 2024.
Ticket sales and details on the full fight card about the much anticipated upcoming Fight Night in July are yet to be revealed, giving rise to speculations of high-profile matchups.
