Jake Paul has never been one to let criticism slide, and Floyd Mayweather is the latest boxing legend to find himself in the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s crosshairs. Mayweather, who has taken part in several exhibition fights since retiring from professional boxing, dismissed the idea of fighting Paul during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He claimed a bout with ‘The Problem Child’ would be “too easy.”
Paul, never one to back down from a war of words, quickly fired back on social media. He mocked Mayweather’s past exhibition against Deji and boldly declared he’d knock out the undefeated former champion in two rounds. Given Mayweather’s history of seeking high-profile fights and Paul’s knack for stirring controversy, a showdown between the two in 2025 suddenly seems like a possibility.
Floyd Mayweather Dismisses Jake Paul: ‘Too Easy’
Floyd Mayweather, widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, didn’t hold back when discussing Jake Paul’s fighting ability. Reflecting on his 2021 exhibition against Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul, Mayweather took a jab at both siblings.
“Me and Logan, we did an exhibition, and that’s why he moved to WWE because he wanted to hold me the whole night,” Mayweather said.
When asked about the possibility of facing Jake, Mayweather was just as dismissive.
“(Jake Paul would be) easy. Too easy. At 48 – too easy,” he stated confidently.
Jake Paul Fires Back: ‘I’d Knock You Out in 2 Rounds’
It didn’t take long for
Jake Paul to respond, and he did so in classic fashion—by taking to social media to call Mayweather out.
“You bum. Deji gave you a black eye in an event that had 4,000 people in it. Deji hahahah. I would knock you out in 2 rounds and you can’t sniff Mike Tyson’s toe,” Paul posted on X.

A potential fight with Canelo Alvarez was blocked by Turki Alalshikh, leaving Paul looking for another big-name matchup. Given Mayweather’s love for lucrative exhibition bouts, it wouldn’t be shocking to see these two eventually step into the ring together.
For now, it’s just talk—but in the world of combat sports, talk often turns into reality.
