Former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira rises to new heights after his last victory against Michael Chandler with a unanimous decision at UFC 309. Do Bronxs has been recently awarded the 2025 Forrest Griffin Community Award, recognizing the fighter for his volunteer and charity work and the impact his work had on the development of the community. Former recipients of the award include fighters like Beneil Dariush, Max Holloway and others.

The Forrest Griffin Community Award is presented to athletes with impactful charity works done towards developing the community

The Forrest Griffin Community Award is one of the four wings incorporated under the UFC Hall of Fame. Presented annually, the award is part of the UFC Honors President’s Choice category. UFC boss Dana White himself selects the recipient for the award. This year, White selected Charles Oliveira for his extraordinary community services.
Oliveira runs a Jiu-Jitsu institute named the Charles Do Bronx Institute, which provides opportunities to several youths and empowers them with a better future through free arts, education, nutrition and Jiu-Jitsu training. The institute grooms these potential talents in the field of combat sports along with paving the way for them to be physically fit and capable. In a short video by the UFC, the fighter is seen talking about the primary intention behind this institute.
“This is about showing them what they can do with life. It’s not just about the community. Life out there is difficult. The streets can be difficult. Thankfully I can come here and talk to them about how important this is.”

Along with the prestigious accolade, Oliveira will also receive an amount of $25,000 as a donation to the charity of his choice. Scheduled for June 26, 2025, the event will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and shall be live-streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
