Conor McGregor names his dream bare-knuckle opponents

Conor McGregor has once again stirred excitement in the combat sports world by naming three ideal opponents for a potential BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) fight. While still under contract with the UFC, McGregor has openly expressed interest in the brutal, no-gloves arena, sparking speculation about a potential future crossover. The former two-division champion didn’t hold back in listing fighters he’d love to test in bare-knuckle combat. But with his UFC obligations, is a BKFC appearance even possible? Here’s what we know so far.

Conor McGregor is not done, the UFC veteran has recently made headlines as he teased his increasing involvement with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

During a press conference in Italy, BKFC’s part-owner hinted that MMA icon Fedor Emelianenko could be joining the promotion. The announcement came while promoting BKFC’s April 26 event in Florence, sparking excitement among fight fans. McGregor, present at the event, took notice when a reporter compared his legacy to that of Emelianenko and Royce Gracie.

“Fedor Emelianenko?” McGregor said extending the hype. “Stay tuned, we might have some announcement with Fedor Emelianenko. Hey Fedor, we’re waiting. Some news might be coming with Fedor Emelianenko. Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship is signing and acquiring the best fighters of all time, past, present and future, and everyone wants to be a part of this,” he added.

The mention of Emelianenko’s name fueled speculation, especially as the promoter suggested his BKFC debut might be imminent. If confirmed, the Russian legend’s entry into bare-knuckle fighting would be a major shake-up for the sport.

Additionally, McGregor reveals his top three picks for a BKFC showdown— Mike Perry, Jeremy Stephens, and Eddie Alvarez.


"If you think I’m up here giving these speeches and leading these men into battle and I won't step in there myself, think again," McGregor said. "Conor McGregor will fight in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Mark my words," he added.

McGregor further shared he has all the intentions to be the Bare Knuckle world champion. "I would wish to be the Bare Knuckle world champion," the 36-year-old said.

"That is a significant belt to hold in your career. Nobody from boxing or mixed martial arts can speak nothing bad on a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship world champion. So, for sure, I would be coming in looking for the world title. There are many bouts, showcase bouts. You could say Mike Perry. You could say Jeremy Stephens. You could say a rematch against Eddie Alvarez. You could say many matches,” he added.

He is also open for any challenge, "But the lightweight title, who’s the champion right now, lightweight, welterweight, let’s see. I am open. We will see when it comes," the veteran fighter shared.

McGregor suffered a broken leg in his defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2021 and has not fought since.
