"Was going somewhere else": Alex Bregman admits going to another MLB team before signing $120 Million deal with Red Sox

Alex Bregman ended his free agency after joining hands with the Boston Red Sox for the upcoming three seasons. The former Houston Astros star’s first stint with free agency resulted in a great contract with the Red Sox, where he would be securing around $40 million every year.
During a recent appearance on a chat show, Alex Bregman spoke about the struggles of free agency and even revealed that before going ahead with the Boston Red Sox, he was about to enter the clubhouse of another team.

While talking about his $120 million deal with the Boston Red Sox, Alex Bregman opened up on the struggles of free agency. In between the discussions, the third baseman even mentioned the uncertainty that comes along with the freedom of free agency. The 30-year-old baseball star even confessed that he was about to go ahead with another MLB team before signing the contract with the Boston Red Sox. He said-

"I'd say probably about 30 minutes before, I ended up becoming a Red Sox, I felt like I was going somewhere else and I felt like it was kind of like that the entire offseason is first time obviously going through free agency but you don't really know what to expect."

This was Alex Bregman’s first stint with free agency. While talking about the uncertainty that comes along with free agency, Bregman further mentioned-

“When you have never been through it but after um after going through it you really don't know until till the last second until um everything's complete it was an interesting experience obviously uh like you said it could be a roller coaster ride at times.”


During the introductory press conference of Alex Bregman with the Boston Red Sox, the athlete sounded quite confident about being a part of the popular MLB team. He said-

“I'm a winning player. It's a winning organization. These players are winning players. We have winning coaches here. I plan on winning here. After talking with some of the guys over the last two days, I can see that there's something special here.”

However, the ripple effects of Alex Bregman’s inclusion has become the talk of the MLB town. With the Red Sox’s third baseman Rafael Devers active in his position, Bregman’s entry might create a rift in the roster.
