The Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Mookie Betts, who won his second World Series in October, is now gearing up to commemorate a World Series victory for the first time, with President Donald Trump. It was in 2018, when Betts had won the title while he was playing with the Boston Red Sox.
Mookie Betts says the visit is for what Dodgers achieved last year
In 2018, Mookie Betts was also named American League MVP. However, Betts had to skip the team's celebration at the White House in 2019. This time, Betts is preparing for the celebration at the White House. Speaking to LA Times regarding the latest update, he said:
"This is not about me; I don’t want anything to be about me. This is about the Dodgers. Because these boys were there for me.”Further, he said:
"No matter what I say or what I do, people are gonna take it as political. But that’s definitely not what it is. This is about what the Dodgers were able to accomplish last year.”Betts explained that it was a tough spot for him to be in.
"It is what it is. It comes with the territory, being Black in America in a situation like this. It’s a tough spot to be in. No matter what I choose, somebody is gonna be pissed. Somebody is gonna have their own opinion. But, again, this is not about me. This is not about politics. This is about the Dodgers. It’s about my loyalty to these boys, this clubhouse. And that’s all it is for me."Mookie Betts thanks his wife Brianna Betts for her constant support
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ ace Mookie Betts had a tough transition to make. Betts found himself in the injured list last season, however, Betts’ motive was straight, to work as hard as he can. He claims the only person who stood by him was his wife, Brianna Betts. He said:
“Sometimes my wife was rolling me ground balls…I would throw a ball against a wall for an hour if I didn’t have anything else to do.”This year, in the start, Betts faced another tough situation, with a stomach virus, causing him to lose nearly 20 pounds and miss the Tokyo Series. Despite his weight loss, Betts managed to make a solid, stunning and impressive comeback.
