With spring training fast approaching, MLB's two biggest free agents, Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman, are now at a crossroads. With the deadline looming and teams wanting a final decision, star players must now decide whether to accept the offer on the table or seek more. The next few days will define their future and the chemistry of their old teams.

Pete Alonso: Standoff with the Mets – Will He Stay or Go?

Pete Alonso, the towering first baseman and four-time All-Star, has been in a tense standoff with the New York Mets. He has been offered a three-year deal worth roughly $70 million, but Pete Alonso is still holding out for a better deal. Alonso wants to return to the Mets, but the team has made it very clear that they are not going to give in to his demands. So, Alonso has very few choices left. The Toronto Blue Jays have also expressed interest in signing him for a similar deal, but Alonso prefers to stay in New York. With few suitors and the first-base market moving quickly early in the offseason, it increasingly appears that Alonso will ultimately take the Mets' offer. The desire to stay in New York, coupled with a lack of alternatives, hints at a possible resolution soon.

Alex Bregman: Trapped Between Astros and New Options

Alex Bregman's situation is slightly more complicated. He's still got that six-year, $156 million deal from the Houston Astros which is still available. Bregman has said nothing about taking the offer and that has angered the Astros so much that they have started scouting elsewhere. In fact, to prove that point, the Astros traded for a third baseman, Isaac Paredes, and signed first baseman Christian Walker in an attempt to say that perhaps they are through with Alex Bregman unless he makes up his mind pretty soon. While the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox were aggressive in the pursuit of Bregman, the latter offered a four-year deal and reportedly offered him a more lucrative, multi-year contract. Houston is likely out of the equation as Bregman seeks a new beginning elsewhere; the Tigers do offer him a chance to play for his former manager, A.J. Hinch or he can be a Red Sox member and play for former Astros coach Alex Cora. His fate is yet to be ascertained by teams, though they are just crossing their fingers on his decision. It's almost spring training time. Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman are on the verge of a point which will mark the next pages in their professional lives. Alonso's case seems closer to resolution, with a likely return to the Mets; Bregman, though, is in limbo. Free agency leaves his fate far less determined than Alonso's. As the deadline approaches, each of the players will have to be particularly cautious in considering the choices that will define the ends of both the player and the team pursuing him. Also Read: Paul Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne shares first glimpse of luxurious $47,000 worth birthday present for sister Julz
