Last night at George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 in an exciting game, thanks to Taylor Walls’ two-out single in the ninth inning. The Rays were losing by two runs, but Junior Caminero’s bold running and team spirit turned things around. This was the Rays’ fifth walk-off win this season and completed their third series sweep of 2025. Fans are thrilled, as the team has won 12 of their last 15 games.
Rays rally in the ninth for a dramatic win
The Rays were down 3-1 going into the ninth inning, and it looked tough against the Rangers. But Yandy Díaz got things started with a single to left field, and Jonathan Aranda walked. Junior Caminero, a young 21-year-old star, hit a single to score pinch-runner José Caballero, making it a one-run game. With two outs, Christopher Morel hit a hard ground ball to third, putting runners on every base for Walls. Walls stayed calm and hit a soft grounder to the right side.
The Rangers’ Marcus Semien grabbed it but couldn’t throw in time. Caminero, who was on second, ran fast and slid home to score the winning run. This win moved the Rays’ record to 33-29, their best since 2023, showing they never give up.

Junior Caminero’s brave running was the key to the Rays’ exciting win last night.
Before the ninth, coach Rodney Linares told him to be bold, and he listened. After his single made the score closer, he kept going when Morel’s grounder confused the Rangers’ defense. From second base, Caminero ran to home without looking at his coach, Brady Williams, and slid in safely.
He’s been amazing lately, hitting six home runs and getting 16 RBIs in his last eight games. Manager Kevin Cash called it a “crazy” play, and Walls said it was his third career walk-off moment. The Rays’ pitchers also helped, with Ryan Pepiot throwing well for his sixth straight quality start and the bullpen keeping the Rangers to four or fewer runs for the 16th game in a row.
