Since the start of this month, there have been speculations that Gerrit Cole's elbow injury is getting worse. In fact, Cole himself previously revealed his concerns about getting surgery done. On Tuesday, the New York Yankees star confirmed the news through his social media.
Gerrit Cole shared an Instagram post on Tuesday, revealing that the doctors have consulted him to get Tommy John surgery done, and he's getting all the necessary treatments done. Cole has been suffering from the discomfort for a while and wants to get rid of it fast.
"From the time I first dreamed of wearing the Yankees uniform, my goal has always been to help bring a World Series championship to New York. That dream hasn’t changed—I still believe in it, and I’m more determined than ever to achieve it," Cole said in his statement.
Moving forward in his statement, Gerrit Cole confessed that surgery is something that every player fears the most. However, considering the worsening of his condition, Cole decided to not take a step back. Talking about how there's a "lot left to give," Cole concluded his statement, saying:
"I have a lot left to give, and I’m fully committed to the work ahead. I’ll attack my rehab every day and support the 2025 Yankees each step of the way. I love this game, I love competing, and I can’t wait to be back on the mound—stronger than ever.
