Boston Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony hit a 497-foot bomb on Saturday, the longest homer in baseball this year. He was playing for Triple-A Worcester against Rochester, and the 21-year-old outfielder hit the ball 115.6 mph. His team won 10-4. This was the longest homer in the majors and minors in 2025. Ranked as baseball’s top prospect, Anthony’s power has everyone talking about when he’ll join the Red Sox. His swing shows he’s ready for the big leagues, and this blast proves it.
Roman Anthony’s record-breaking blast
On Saturday at Polar Park, Roman Anthony stepped up with the bases loaded in the 8th inning for the Worcester Red Sox. He hit a fastball 497 feet to right centre. 115.6 mph according to Statcast. That’s a grand slam and gives Worcester an 8-5 lead and they go on to win 10-4.
That’s the longest hit of the season. Longer than Mike Trout’s 484-foot homer in the majors and Aramis Garcia’s 484-foot shot in the minors. Since 2015, only 4 other major league homers have gone longer. Nomar Mazara’s 505-foot shot in 2019 was the longest.
Worcester’s manager, Chad Tracy, said the ball was “destroyed.” This amazing hit has made people wonder why Anthony isn’t with the Red Sox yet. His power and skill show that he could help the team right away.

Roman Anthony is raking in Triple-A, .290 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 57 games, but he’s not with the Red Sox. The Red Sox outfield is already stacked with Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela, so it’s hard to find a spot for him. Anthony can play any outfield position, and some think moving Rafaela to the infield could work.
The Red Sox already called up prospects Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, leaving Anthony as the last of their top trio. With a .916 OPS and two grand slams this year, he’s ready for the majors. There are also rumours that Boston might trade an outfielder like Duran to make room. With the Red Sox at 31-35, Anthony’s big bat could give them the boost they need to improve.
