There were lengthy negotiations being carried out between Alonso and the Mets, which took many U-turns. Recently, Alonso opened up about his re-signing journey and revealed adopting a "patient" personality.

Pete reflects back on Mets re-signing journey

The New York Mets ended Pete Alonso's free agency last month, they decided to re-sign him on a $54 Million contract. The Mets star recently reflected back on his re-signing journey and revealed his trick to dealing with the exhaustion. Talking about how he always felt that "things would work out", Alonso said:

“I always felt that things would work out the way they were supposed to. That I’d end up where I was supposed to be. All along, I felt as if that was back in New York and back with the Mets. In the end, that’s the way things did work out. I’m a pretty patient person."

“I’m so excited about this season. We’ve got a great team here, and I’m ready to help us do great things," Alonso further added.


Earlier last week, Pete Alonso marked his attendance at the "Foul Territory" podcast and credited his conversation with David Stearns for his successful re-signing with the Mets. Sharing details into his take, Alonso had said:

"It was just discussing the full vision over the next, not just this year but the next couple of years and I think having that vision, having that knowledge...the philosophies, the fabric of the organization and the consistency from top to bottom whether its staff, players, gameplay philosophies certain things like that."

It wasn't just David Stearns but many more individuals who were involved in Pete Alonso's re-signing with the Mets. One such individual was Brandon Nimmo, who recently came forward to confess his involvement with the $54 Million signing.

Apart from Nimmo, Alonso shared his personal factors that were associated with his comeback in the Mets. Talking about David Stearns, the Mets' president of baseball operations recently shed light on Pete Alonso's mentality, heading into the regular season.
