Almost a day after he hit his first home run as a part of his new team, New York Mets, fans cannot stop praising Juan Soto's performance on Opening Day. Soto hit his first home run of the regular season in the third inning of the game to Hunter Brown.
Interestingly, it was the way Soto managed his home run that left fans stunned. Soto hit a 1-2 cutter by Brown, which was a 96 MPH pitch. During an interview with Daily News on Saturday, Soto could not stop raving about Soto's impressive hit.
"Oh, sick. I mean, he hit it off the facade of the second deck. It’s always super fun here because everything is sort of closed in, so homers here just look awesome," Alonso said.
During the same interview, Juan Soto marked his appearance and talked about his laser shot. Soto confessed that he had been watching all of Brown's pitches and suspected of receiving something like this in his comfort zone. Talking about the same, Alonso said:
"You see what he’s been doing the whole day. I asked Winker, I asked Beatty, they said, they say he feels pretty comfortable with the cutter up and in. So I was kind of aware of that pitch, definitely. You’re hunting for something in the strike zone, but he’s a guy who has a lot of ride [on his pitches].
Pete Alonso opened up about a goal to hit 500 home runs
Earlier this month, Pete Alonso was interviewed by Newsday, during which the New York Mets star talked about his goal for the upcoming regular season. Alonso claimed to be wanting to hit almost 500 home runs this season. Even though it's a huge goal, Alonso aims to accomplish it. Talking about the same, Alonso said:
“It’s a crazy number to think about. but it’s something I for sure want to do. And hopefully hit way more than that. As a player, all of us are fans. It’s like, OK, this is cool to think about, but you can’t be a fan for too long. Cool thought, and then all right, tomorrow go back to work and do whatever you can to get yourself ready to perform.”
Apart from talking about his goals for the season,
Pete Alonso shared his blunt take on allegations made on Devin Williams for tipping the pitches during the Mets' Wild Card game last season.
