Nick Pivetta shines bright in his debut match against the Atlanta Braves
The San Diego Padres had no idea that they had already hit a jackpot after signing the former Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta before the spring season. Recently, Pivetta helped the Padres escalate a 5-0 victory against the Atlanta Braves during the 2025 MLB season’s opening day. The Padres went on to hit 4-0 for the first time after their World Series Championship appearance in 1984. During a post-game interview with Marty Caswell’s Marty Time TV, Pivetta spoke about the great start of the Padres and even mentioned that he enjoyed representing the MLB team. He said-
"You know me and Diaz, we really clicked there. You know we were commanding the strike zone, doing the right things, and you know, just trying to play the game of baseball, and everything worked.”Nick Pivetta on his dominant debut for the Padres in sweep over the Atlanta Braves
While talking about being a part of the Padres, and his stellar performance, he said-
“It's a great honor just to be here; very, very excited to be here and, you know, just trying to keep things one step at a time, just not to try to stray too far away from this. I was in the strike zone; I think that's just what it was. I think my 1-1 counts were pretty good.”He further added:
“I mean, it's a really great start for the club and for the organization, and you know, the fans love it, and their excitement and energy have been tremendous, and it's just exciting to be here and excited to be playing in front of them. It's why we all play the game because everybody loves baseball.”The Atlanta Braves lost six games back-to-back at Petco Park, along with the previous season's two games in the wild-card round. Nick Pivetta was signed by the San Diego Padres for four seasons in a $55 million contract. Reportedly, the pitcher was added to the roster of the Padres during the off-season in February 2025.
