The behind-the-scenes of the Padres’ ownership drama has diverted much attention as the MLB team has been missing out in action during the ongoing off-season. Peter Seidler’s better wife Sheel Kamal Seidler made headlines with her lawsuit against her brother-in-laws Matt and Bob Seidler with respect to the teams’ ownership.
During a recent episode of Kaplan and Crew, John Browner, Scott Kaplan, and Alex Padilla discussed the current state of the San Diego Padres. While referring to Michael King’s situation, Padilla mentioned the track record of the Seidler sibling duo, Matt and Bob. Reportedly King has asked for $8.8 million whereas the Padres offered him around $7 million, Padilla said-
“I think the way it’s being spun is like we got to work the mess that Peter made. Sell the team.” John Browner even repeated the statement-
“Sell the team” Scott Kaplan further added-
“And that’s why people will hate the brothers because instead of the brothers continuing on with what Peter was doing, the brothers are like ‘ we gotta now clean up the mess’” According to the lawsuit, Sheel Seidler claimed that Peter Seidler had wanted her to be the control person of the San Diego Padres. As per Mrs. Seidler, Peter had made these wishes before his demise in November 2023. Whereas, Peter’s brothers deny this and claim that their legendary brother always had an estate plan.
Matt Seidler talks about Sheel Kamal Seidler’s complaints
The legal drama surrounding the late Padres owner Peter Seidler’s estate and his MLB team is gradually taking an interesting turn. In response to the lawsuit filed by Peter Seidler’s widow Sheel Kamal Seidler, Matt Seidler has been pushing hard against the allegations made by her. The lawsuit was filed on January 9 and after that, every major to minor update on the case has been diverting the attention of the world.
The accusations were denied by Matt Seidler in a 25-page response. According to Matt, Mrs. Seidler has demanded around $20 million in distribution even after she has already received a Texas ranch with an approximate valuation of $30 million and over $4.5 million in cash from the trust after the death of Peter Seidler.
