Earlier this month, the New York Mets re-signed their first baseman Pete Alonso for a whopping $54 Million contract. Alonso's signing definitely had an influence on the market dynamics of the first baseman position. However, the Washington Nationals star Nathaniel Lowe recently expressed being least bothered about the potential change.

Nathaniel Lowe's reaction to Pete Alonso's Mets deal influencing the market for first baseman

On Monday, Nathaniel Lowe made an appearance on the "JM Baseball" podcast to talk about his game plans heading into the 2025 season. During one of the segments of the podcast, Lowe talked about Pete Alonso's $54 Million signing with the New York Mets changing the market dynamics for the first baseman position. Talking about the change that least bothers him, Lowe said:"I mean, Christian Walker only got a three-year deal as well, and he's a premier defender. I'm going to enjoy where I'm at today, I'll just smash it this year and I'll do my best to help my team win. There's still a lot I have to accomplish and add to my resume. The chips are going to fall where they may."Before talking about being unbothered by Pete Alonso's deal's influence on the marketing dynamics, Nathaniel Lowe talked about his reaction to the Mets' star's signing. Talking about the same, Lowe said:"He's [Pete Alonso] the premier right handed power bat in this free agent class—and he essentially only got a one-year deal.
I get it. $20 million with a $10 million bonus is awesome. But what does that tell the rest of the upcoming free agents."

"Does that say that six or eight year deals are off the table? I'm hitting free agency in two years. What does this mean for me? What do I have to get excited for? For the short run, I think Pete Alonso's contract is good," Lowe further added. Talking about Pete Alonso, the New York Mets owner Steve Cohen recently made headlines for opening up about the first baseman's re-signing. Alonso created the buzz among the fans with his re-signing, however, Francisco Lindor recently took credit for the first baseman and gave it to the underrated Mets players.
