As the Milwaukee Brewers continue their preparation for the 2025 season, they aim on bouncing back from the early playoff exit last season. With the talented roster still intact, despite the team losing Willy Adames, the brewers are focused on reclaiming the NL Central crown. According to The Athletic’s Keith Law report, Milwaukee might surprise the fans by pairing two young stars in the opening-day lineup.

Milwaukee Brewers consider Jackson Chourio and Tyler Black for opening day

Jackson Chourio last season made waves with his debut. He proved that he belongs to the big leagues. Now, the Brewers might pair Tyler Black, a 24-year-old infielder, with him. Black has impressed the team with his on-base skills and athleticism. The dynamic duo of veteran talent and an emerging prospect can bring a fresh wave of energy and skills to the team.

"(Tyler) Black is a great athlete who plays like his hair’s on fire,” wrote The Athletic's Keith Law. "He may have the inside shot at the Brewers’ third-base job to start the year."
"He thinks he knows the zone better than the umps, and I mean that in a good way," Law added.
The patience of Black at the plate, complementing his aggressive base-running skills, has made him a valuable asset, offering the team a dynamic presence on the field. While his defense is still a work in progress, Black's athleticism can make him the versatile choice for Milwaukee.

Tyler Black's rise could continue Milwaukee Brewers' youth movement

Tyler Black was the first-round pick in 2021. He quickly rose through the Brewers' system. In the 25 with Triple-A Nashville last season, he was able to slash .303/.393/.525. His performance earned him a promotion to the majors.

In the 49 big league at-bats, Black tallied 2 RBIs and 10 hits, as he stole three bases. His hustle and energy had already made him a fan favorite, and Milwaukee Brewers are now willing to offer him the shot despite the defensive limitations.
With Jackson Chourio, who already established himself as the key player, pairing him with Black can inject the needed youthful energy into the lineup of the Brewers. In the plans of the Brewers for the 2025 season, the duo might be the needed spark for making the deeper playoff run.
