Being one of the most successful players in the league, Juan Soto often finds himself under the radar of trolls. However, Soto has figured out a way to deal with trolling. In an interview with the Daily News, Soto talked about handling criticism and not letting it affect his performance.
“Just turn it off. Just think about yourself and what you’re going to do at the moment. Just be focused and forget about what is going on around you. I remember when I was a kid, they used to tell me, ‘If they’re not booing you, you’re not doing things right.’ So I feel like every time they boo me, it means something for me.”
Juan Soto felt that he had definitely done something right, which resulted in the fans trolling him. Moving forward in the team, Soto talked about things that he keeps in mind when he steps foot on the field. The Mets star revealed the secret to letting go of in-game pressure, Soto said:
“Just think about the team, just be out there for the new team. Don’t be thinking about yourself. I think that’s one of the things that’s going to take pressure off, just thinking about what we can do and what we can be capable of doing as a team.”
Juan Soto highlights family's influence in joining the NY Mets
Before talking about dealing with criticism, Juan Soto talked about his signing with the New York Mets. Even though Soto has previously talked about his contract, he recently revealed having a significant contribution from family, in his decision to join the New York Mets.
Juan Soto's statement came during an interview with NBC Today, where he said:
“You gotta go through a lotta things. It’s a whole group, a family decision that we made. And I think that was the best one, you know? I mean, they tried the hardest they can but things happen, you know? They really tried, but we couldn’t get it done.”
Moving forward in the interview, Juan Soto talked about avoiding putting too much pressure on himself, moving forward in the 2025 regular season. Talking about his opinion in detail, Soto further explained:
"For who I am, I'm gonna keep being who I am. That’s the biggest thing for me. I don’t want to try to do more; I’m not gonna try to put a building on my back. I just gotta keep doing whatever I’ve been doing since day one. So I think that’s how I keep the pressure out of my way."
Before talking about his massive contract with the New York Mets, Juan Soto shared his honest reaction to playing in front of his former team New York Yankees' fan crowd.
