Jurickson Profar’s Injury and the Braves’ Reaction

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Atlanta Braves left fielder Jurickson Profar suddenly left a Spring Training game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The game was being played at CoolToday Park in North Port, Florida.

Jurickson Profar injured his left wrist after landing awkwardly while trying to catch a ball hit by Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski. As soon as the play ended, the Braves’ medical team rushed onto the field. Profar was in pain, and after a short discussion, they helped him off.

Shortly after, the Atlanta Braves announced that Jurickson Profar had suffered a jammed left wrist. X-rays showed no fractures, which was a relief. However, the team scheduled more tests to make sure there were no other issues.

Braves’ head athletic trainer George Poulis later said that while the initial results were encouraging, they wanted to be completely sure before clearing Profar to play again.

Will Jurickson Profar Be Ready for Opening Day?

This injury comes at a tough time for the Atlanta Braves. Star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. is already recovering from knee surgery and is not expected to return at the start of the season. Catcher Sean Murphy is also sidelined with a cracked rib. If Jurickson Profar is unable to play, the Braves could begin the season without three key starters.

The Braves signed Jurickson Profar to a three-year, $42 million deal this offseason, hoping he would bring stability to the lineup. Last year with the San Diego Padres, he had an impressive season, hitting 24 home runs and earning his first MLB All-Star selection.

Now, with his wrist injury, there are concerns about whether he will be fully ready when the season begins. The team is expected to provide more updates on Jurickson Profar’s condition soon. For now, Braves fans can only hope that their new outfielder makes a quick recovery.
