On Thursday, Juan Soto was interviewed by SNY and talked about his first Spring Training experience with the New York Mets. During one of the segments of his interview, Soto talked about Pete Alonso’s re-signing and shared his excitement to play alongside him. Sharing his hot take on Alonso’s $54 Million deal, Soto said:
"I think it's great for the whole team. We have more balance, we have more power. Now, he's a guy who can hit the ball out, and they will part and every come. "So I'm excited — excited for him and to see what he's going to do this year. I think it's going to be a huge year for him and for the team. So, it was my sixth time."Juan Soto on first spring training with Mets, goals for the season | Mets Hot Stove | SNY
Almost a day before Juan Soto’s SNY appearance, Pete Alonso made an appearance on the New York Mets’ “Meet at the Apple” podcast. During his appearance, Alonso talked about multiple topics, including his reaction to Juan Soto’s signing with the Mets. Opening up about his reaction to sharing the locker room with Soto, Alonso said:
"I'm just so used to playing against him; it was like, ‘Wow! I have the potential to be on the same team’. For me, I couldn't wrap my mind around it at first. But then, when things kind of got serious in my contract talks, and I was granted Juan being back here, it was great."Pete Alonso Relives Milwaukee Home Run, Reacts To "We Want Pete" Chants | Meet at the Apple
"He's such a fantastic player. He's a phenomenal player. Where he'd have gone, he'd help them win. But, by golly, I'm so happy he's with us. Every time you play against him, he has a big hit, makes a big play, or does something special. It's so nice to have him on our side now," Alonso added.
Juan Soto left the New York Yankees to join the New York Mets in December last year. Recently, the ex-Yankees head coach Sean Casey claimed that the team has
achieved a “better line-up” following Soto’s departure.
