The Dodgers’ superstar Shohei Ohtani stole the spotlight during the opening day two series game against the Chicago Cubs. From being nervous about performing on his home ground to getting emotional during the Japanese national anthem, the talented designated hitter had kept all the cameras hooked towards himself in the Tokyo Dome. Apart from being labeled as a superman by the Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts, Shohei Ohtani even earned praise from a prominent MLB analyst.

Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani earns praise from MLB analyst Ben Verlander

Fox Sports MLB Analyst Ben Verlander has joined the league of MLB personalities, insiders, and athletes who just cannot hold themselves back from talking about the phenomenal performance of Shohei Ohtani during the two opening day matches against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo. Ben Verlander took to X and posted about the Dodgers’ designated hitter. Verlander’s post mentioned “Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball player of all time.”
During the post-game press conference, Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts praised Ohtani’s remarkable contribution to the match-winning game against the Cubs and even went on to describe him as a superhero. He said-“I know Shohei puts his pants on like we all do — one leg at a time, but if there’s ever a superhero, I think Shohei just seems like a superstar. In the biggest of games, the biggest of moments, he always seems to deliver.”

Ohtani’s teammate Tommy Edman also spoke about him and shared about the relaxed version of the Dodgers’ athlete. He said-“It’s kind of ridiculous. It's like he’s just playing a video game. We’re all out there grinding, trying to do anything we can to win a game, but he’s just playing a different game altogether. It is pretty crazy to see the stuff he does on a daily basis.”Despite diverting the cameras towards himself during one of the most anticipated games of the 2025 MLB season, Shohei Ohtani revealed that he was nervous while performing in front of his home crowd after 2024. The 30-year-old multitalented player even mentioned that he was happy that his teammates got to experience Japan both on and off the field and is ready to head towards the US after coming away with two victories back to back.
