Corbin Burnes revisited $210 Million Diamondbacks signing
On Monday, Corbin Burnes had a brief interview with "MLB Network" and revisited his $210 Million signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Burnes talked about his reasons for signing with the Diamondbacks in detail. According to Burnes, the primary reason why he decided to sign with the Diamondbacks and not any other team is because the team "checked all the boxes" for him. Sharing details into his reason, Burnes said:
"Just kind of the stage of life that me and my wife are at with three young kids, we wanted [for me to move] somewhere that we could be together as much as we can, I can help out and be a dad a little bit more than I was the last couple of years.""These guys [Arizona Diamondbacks] reached out and there was mutual interest to join a team that was in the World Series a couple of years ago, with the good young core they have, it just kinda checked all the boxes, and everything lined up perfectly," he further added.
Earlier this year in January, Corbin Burnes and Arizona Diamondbacks agreed upon a massive $210 Million contract, which lasts for 6 long years. According to the contract, Burnes is expected to become a free agent in 2031.
Talking about the details of the contract, it's a $210 Million guaranteed money contract which comes with a signing bonus of $10 Million and a base salary of $30 Million and average annual salary of $35 Million for Corbin Burnes.
Before the Arizona Diamondbacks, Corbin Burnes was signed with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2018 to 2023. Last year, Burnes signed a $15.63 Million arbitration deal with the Brewers. As for the last season, Burnes had a win-loss record of 60-20 with a total of 1051 strikeouts. Let’s see what Burnes does for the Diamondbacks heading into the new season.
