Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer height comparison: Who stands taller on the mound

Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer have spent the last two decades looking dominant, and occasionally, one-on-one, in a stare-off across a diamond. They are both first-ballot Hall of Fame caliber pitchers, they are both competitors, and they both have a mastery of mound presence. And then there's the world-famous curveball that falls from the sky like a boulder. Being 6’4 is definitely an advantage for him at his own stadium.


The height that Kershaw possesses is what also exudes his composed behavior on the mound. He does not have to display any theatrical movements. He simply relies on the height that he has. When he’s on his rare streak, he appears to stretch his height even longer, making him appear to have two to three more inches than the other pitchers when he’s on the mound. Scherzer is still plenty tall to have the leverage on his pitches, but his true "height" is in how he comes at hitters. He pitches uphill emotively even when he's an inch shorter on paper, technically. That ferocity compresses the difference, making the height comparison almost academic. While Kershaw is tall and smooth, Scherzer is compact and combustible-proof that intimidation is not measured with a tape measure.
