Sabathia spent 11 out of 19 MLB seasons with the New York Yankees. He will now down the pinstriped cap of the Hall of Fame plaque. While Sabathia began the career with Cleveland Guardians, his most memorable achievement came in New York with his 2007 AL Cy Young Award win. The former MLB player in 2009 led the Yankees to the World Series title. He recorded his 20-win season with the team. In the following year, he had 21 wins.
The desire to wear the Yankees cap was publicly expressed by Sabathi. The Hall of Fame has now honored his preference, making him the only inductee in 2025 who’s not representing the original team.

The other 4 inductees, underscoring their foundational contributions, will wear the caps representing their original team. The Mariners legend Ichiro Suzuki will be wearing the Seattle logo after he spent 14 of 19 MLB seasons with the team. The Pirates icon, Dave Parker, will don the Pittsburgh logo after 11 seasons and the MVP award with the team.
Playing for the 5 teams, Billy Wagner will wear an Astros cap, reflecting the 9 seasons and 225 saves with Houston. The Classic Era Committee elected Dick Allen, who will represent the Phillies. He spent 9 of 15 seasons with the team and won an MVP.
