Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds made an unexpected early exit during Tuesday night's clash against the Detroit Tigers, but not due to injury or performance issues. The 30-year-old two-time All-Star was pulled from the game in the second inning after receiving the news that his wife, Blair Reynolds, had gone into labor.
Bryan Reynolds’ unexpected exit from Pirates game melts hearts for all the right reasons
Reynolds had struck out to end the top of the first and had yet to make a play in the field before being replaced by Alexander Canario in right field. Manager Don Kelly confirmed after the game that Reynolds was expected to be placed on the paternity list and hinted at a quick return. “That’s what I would think, given the timing,” Kelly noted when asked if Reynolds might be back for the weekend home series against the Texas Rangers.
Despite Reynolds' departure, the Pirates briefly surged ahead thanks to a two-run single by Canario in the third inning. However, the Tigers bounced back and secured a 7-3 victory.
Reynolds, currently batting .222 with eight home runs, 39 RBIs, and 81 strikeouts over 71 games this season, now turns his attention to a far more personal milestone—welcoming his third child with Blair Reynolds.
The couple’s story began in high school at Brentwood, where they first met. Years of dating followed before Bryan proposed in December 2017. They tied the knot on December 2, 2018, marking the beginning of their journey as a married couple. Blair, born on July 29, 1993, is not just the supportive wife of a professional athlete—she’s a fitness trainer with a degree in psychology from Belmont University.
Their growing family already includes two young sons: Reese, born in August 2020, and Brooks Campbell Reynolds, born on July 31, 2022. With the birth of their third child, the Reynolds household is set to become even livelier.
While Reynolds' absence on the field may have left a gap for the Pirates, fans and teammates alike are rallying behind him for this joyful occasion. In the unpredictable world of baseball, moments like these serve as a reminder that behind every player is a personal life filled with milestones just as significant as any on the diamond.
As the Pirates gear up for their series against the Rangers, all eyes now turn toward Bryan’s anticipated return—and the newest addition to the Reynolds family.
