“Believes acquiring Trout”: MLB insider predicts Mike Trout’s trade to Phillies in 2026

Mike Trout has currented been signed on a $426 Million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, which keeps him with the franchise for six more seasons. According to his contract, Trout is all set to go free agent in 2031. However, according to a recent report, Trout might not stay with the Angels for long.
On Monday, Sportsnaut released a report by Matt Higgins, in which the MLB analyst claimed that Mike Trout will be traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the next MLB season. According to Higgins, the Phillies have signed to acquire any right-handed batter. Therefore, there’s a high probability of them getting Trout from the Angels.
"After failing to sign or trade for a coveted right-handed bat for their left-handed-heavy lineup, the Philadelphia Phillies will make a blockbuster trade to acquire future Hall of Famer Mike Trout," Higgins said.
Moving forward in his report, Matt Higgins talked about Mike Trout’s performance being an issue due to his multiple injury-plagued seasons. However, Trout is expected to return to his prime form soon, a version of him that the Phillies can definitely use. Concluding his take, Higgins further added:
“Despite being injury-plagued the last several seasons, Trout will finally be healthy and return to his All-Star form. Owner John Middleton wants his World Series trophy back, and he believes acquiring Trout will do just the trick."
Mike Trout will definitely be giving his full efforts to helping the Angels win a World Series championship and, not the least, qualify for the playoffs. During an interview with MLB reporter Rhett Bollinger, Trout talked about his champion’s mentality for the 2025 MLB season and said:
"I think playoffs, obviously, that's what we want to do. We want to win. There's gonna be some ups and downs, but we’ve got to stick together. We’ve got to build that family chemistry, and anything can happen.”
After spending the majority of his career at center field, the Angels decided to change Mike Trout’s position to right field.
