Anthony Santander reveals 'pretty good' reason for signing $92,500,000 contract with Blue Jays

Anthony Santander has officially signed the $92.5 Million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. After his signing, Santander interacted with the media and talked about his experience going through the signing process. Anthony Santander on the involvement of any influence in $92.5 Million contract

Anthony Santander and the Toronto Blue Jays agreed upon a 5-years long contract worth $92.5 Million, with an option to extend his contract to 6th year. During a media interaction on Tuesday, Santander talked about his experience joining the Blue Jays and if there's any specific reason why he signed with them. Talking about the same, he said:

"They have a pretty good team, they want to win and they want to get back to the playoffs. It’s important to me to make that move. There’s a winning mentality. The city is great. The environment at Rogers Centre is amazing. I’m going to bring what I learned in Baltimore the last two years, being in the playoffs, and share that with my new brothers here."


Moreover, Anthony Santander expressed how the Blue Jays jersey has already started to suit him. Talking about his excitement to play with his new teammates and praising the Blue Jays for the smooth signing process, Santander said:

“Looks great on me already. The process was really good. This move, since day one, we’ve had really good communication, back and (forth). I know it took a little bit longer but we got what we wanted. We’re here. The process was really easy."


"I’m happy for this opportunity. I can’t wait to be with my brothers. It starts on day one of spring training. Work hard, get better every single day and go after the championship. That’s what we’re looking for. That’s what I’m here for," Santander further added.

While the Blue Jays are happiest about signing Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles legend Jim Palmer is nothing but "sorry" about the team's loss. Palmer took to his X account to share his reaction to Santander's signing with the Blue Jays and wrote:

"Sorry to lose Anthony Santander.. but he deserves to be paid well and the Blue Jays were willing to go to 5 years, over 90 million $. Wish him nothing but good health, a classy talented player that helped the O’s back to respectability.."
