Aaron Judge criticism grows after World Baseball Classic loss while Alex Rodriguez calls out unfair blame on captain

Aaron Judge is once again facing heavy criticism, this time after Team USA lost the World Baseball Classic final to Venezuela. Many fans quickly pointed fingers at the New York Yankees star, questioning his performance and even his role as captain. Judge’s numbers in the tournament were not great, but they were not the worst either. He finished 6-for-27, with two home runs, five RBIs, six walks, and seven strikeouts. “Aaron Judge is an American treasure,” Rodriguez said. “I’m tired of people trying to nitpick at him—that he can’t do this, he can’t do that. Here’s the bottom line: he’s a US patriot. He’s a gentleman.”

Rodriguez also explained that Judge’s role in the team went beyond just performance. He shared how Judge’s decision to play had a bigger impact on the squad.

“Paul Skenes said something very interesting: once Aaron Judge said yes, the domino effect happened and everyone followed. So his engagement, him being a captain, goes so far beyond a home run or a throw in right field,” he added.

Looking at the full picture, Team USA had one of the strongest lineups in the tournament. Names like Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Bobby Witt Jr., and Cal Raleigh made it look like a team that could dominate anyone. And in the beginning, they did just that, scoring 26 runs across games against Brazil and Great Britain.
