Even though Mookie Betts has been back on the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, there's still a buzz around his sickness. Betts missed the entire Tokyo Series due to stomach sickness. Recently, an MLB insider revealed the specific sickness Betts was suffering from, which led to his time off from the field.
On Tuesday, MLB insider Jack Harris released a report via the LA Times, in which he shared the details around Mookie Betts' sickness. According to Harris, Betts was suffering from "stomach virus" which got worse during his trip to Tokyo. Talking about the health issue in detail, Betts said:
"Betts missed the Dodgers’ opening two games in Japan last week while battling a stomach virus, one that is believed to be a case of norovirus, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly."
Mookie Betts blamed 'plane ride' for worsening health
Before Jack Harris shared details on Mookie Betts health status, the Dodgers star came forward to share his side of the story. On Tuesday, Betts made an appearance in front of the reporters to talk about his sickness that left him out of the Tokyo Series.
Mookie Betts blamed his plane ride to Tokyo, which resulted in worsening his condition. Talking about the same, Betts explained:
“I'm practicing all day, and my body's just kind of eating itself, and so it's hard to not fuel it. And so every time, literally, every time I fuel my body, I throw it up. So got on the plane, I thought I would at least give myself a couple days to kind of heal, and then the plane ride was brutal. That was one of the worst plane rides I ever had.”
Moving forward, Betts also claimed being "tired of just throwing up" all day as his stomach issues had him struggling with a delayed comeback. Concluding his statement, Betts further added:
“It's just hard to fathom not eating. So it looks like I'm just going to be light for a little bit. Maybe I have to play uphill a little bit for the beginning of the season. But you know, I just want to play, man. I'm tired of sitting, tired of just throwing up, tired of doing all of this,” Betts further added.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been invited to the White House by US President Donald Trump. However, according to an MLB insider, Betts hasn't shared his confirmation regarding the White House visit.
