"A guy that I’ve looked up to": Garrett Crochet launched praises for Justin Verlander months after $3,800,000 Red Sox signing

During the offseason, the Boston Red Sox signed Garrett Crochet on a $3.8 Million deal for 1 year. Amidst his contract extension talks, Crochet reported to the spring training complex of the Red Sox and interacted with media later on. During the press conference, Crochet talked about his experience in the new team so far, while launching praises for Walker Buehler.

Following his first day at work at the Boston Red Sox's training complex, Garrett Crochet appeared in front of the press, during the team's press conference. During his media interaction, Crochet talked about his admiration for Walker Buehler. Launching praises for Buehler, Crochet said:
“Personally speaking that’s a guy that I’ve looked up to and admired since I was in high school. I followed his career at Vanderbilt and then into the big leagues, so it’s really cool to be able to share the locker room with him, watch his bullpens, and kind of pick his brain afterwards. That’s something I look forward to doing for the rest of the year.”


There have been talks of contract extension around Garrett Crochet lately and the Red Sox's new hire feels that he has already found his new home in Boston for good long years. Talking about what he feels about his future with the Red Sox, Buehler said:

“As soon as I was traded to the Red Sox, that I knew this was a place that I could see myself long-term. I think that when you talk about a historic franchise like this one, it’s one that any player would be lucky to call home for whatever duration of time that may be. It’s not exactly fully in my hands, but I’ve been seeing the big picture as soon as the trade went through."

Before getting hired by the Boston Red Sox, Garrett Crochet played with the Chicago White Sox from 2020 till last season. Last season, Crochet signed a $800,000 contract with the White Sox after his $733,000 contract expired. With White Sox, Crochet has a win-loss record of 9-19 with a total of 294 strikeouts and an ERA (earned run average) of 3.29.
